The Xbox 360 was introduced in November of 2005. Since that time a hefty percentage of the Microsoft consoles have failed or experienced the "red ring of death" a nickname correctly coined or the technical name for the Xbox 360's error the E74 error message.

This "Red Ring of death" is a very common problem that over half of Xbox 360 owners have dealt with. Microsoft released a statement stating that over 900,000 customers were dealing with this problem and over 40% of consoles are failing and the ones that havent failed have a great chance. When your Xbox 360 is affected with the "Red Ring of death", gaming might not be possible not to mention your Xbox 360 live membership will be useless as gameplay is dropped constantly when your console is affected.

When you own a Broken 400-600 dollar game system, not only is one annoyed but angered by the fact of a not so worthy product. The sad truth is that if the red ring of death problem is not corrected soon the Xbox 360 may stop working all together which would only cost hundreds more to be repaired. Depending on how big of a gamer you may be the sooner you get your Xbox 360 repaired the beter, but first lets look at what may be wrong with your system.

If you have three flashing red lights that is primarily from overheating. I personally would accidentally leave my Xbox 360 on all night sometime and the end result was three red lights so I speak from experience. To be honest, there is an electrical
malfunction between the CPU, GPU and the motherboard due to engineering mishaps in the construction of the Xbox 360. It was stated and easily seen that the heat sinks on the Xbox 360 were downsized a little (which keep the Xbox 360 cool) to accommodate the dvd drive. They also used an uncanny way of linking them to the processors. Also what happens is when you play your Xbox 360 for too long it heats up beyond 120 degrees , and the motherboard begins to vibrate and flex against the x-clamp plastic support. The vibrations with the motherboard cause the soldering s to break holding the graphic processors in place. This cause a electrical meltdown and the occurrence of the Red ring of death.

How do I fix my Xbox 360? Well there is an extremely bad myth going around saying to wrap your Xbox 360 in towels and let it over heat. Now you can try this but just as much as it doesn't make sense it does not work as well and your temporary problems become permanent. This outrageous method may work for a couple hours because when you wrap your console and turn it on, there is no air circulation for the heat to escape. It's like putting corn oil in your gas tank, sure it may run for a block but you have just ruined you car for a 3 minute trip! Your Xbox 360 is a high tech piece equipment not a toaster, avoid entirely the "towel fix" and any "fix" involving heat.
